In EUSD, we believe that student learning should be personalized, authentic, competency-based, and inclusive and equitable. Our teachers strive to create these conditions in all of our classrooms so that students are engaged and supported as they grow as learners. As part of the EUSD learning model, competency-based student learning is driven by targeted instruction, assessment, and a feedback cycle that monitors progress toward desired grade-level knowledge and skills.

As parent-teacher conferences took place this week, students' academic progress was shared with families, along with resources and strategies to maintain a strong partnership in support of our students. All students in Grades K-8 took their first district i-Ready diagnostic test at the beginning of the year to get a baseline score and their individualized learning paths in reading and math. Teachers shared those student results with parents during parent conferences. For your reference, here is information on how to understand your child’s i-Ready diagnostic results (Spanish version). The goal is for students to score at grade level by the end of the school year. All K-8 students will take a second diagnostic in December of 2024 and a third diagnostic in May of 2025.

Students can always access their i-Ready personalized learning paths on their iPad by clicking on the i-Ready app. A common goal is for students to spend approximately 45 minutes on their reading personalized learning path and about 45 minutes on their math personalized learning path each week, and to pass each lesson with a score of 67% or higher on the quiz. More information about i-Ready can be found on the i-Ready Family Center website. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have further questions.
