This week, we held our annual Middle School Band Concert at the California Center for the Arts Escondido. Each of our five comprehensive middle schools participated, and at the end, we were treated with three additional numbers performed by a combined band performance! It was a wonderful event, and our student performers were incredible! Congratulations to our students!

California Day of the Teacher:
The California Day of the Teacher arose out of legislation co-sponsored by CTA and the Association of Mexican American Educators in 1982. As Superintendent, I am immensely proud of the exceptional educators within our district. Their commitment to excellence and their unwavering support for our students are truly commendable. I encourage you to take a moment to express your gratitude to the teachers who have made a difference in your child's life. Whether it's a heartfelt note, a small gift, or a simple thank you, your appreciation will mean the world to them.
Here are this week’s updates and reminders:
CAASPP Testing
State testing continues for students in grades 3 - 8. Each school has developed its own testing schedule. The testing window will be open through May 23. Please be sure to support your students by ensuring they have a good night’s rest, a healthy breakfast, and plenty of encouragement to do their best!
New Student Enrollment 2025-2026
Online New Student Enrollment for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year is opening on May 14th! If you have a child who will be new to our district in the fall, whether entering kindergarten, transferring from another district, or moving into our community, we encourage you to begin the enrollment process as soon as possible. Enrolling early helps us plan effectively for the new school year, ensuring adequate staffing, resources, and class placements to provide the best possible learning environment for your child.
Returning Student Registration 2025-2026
Beginning May 14th, you will have the opportunity to complete your child’s annual mandatory emergency card information and registration online through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Updating your child’s emergency information is essential for any EUSD program that your child may be participating in next school year. You’ll receive an email this week with additional instructions.
School Choice
We are currently offering placements for the 2025-2026 school year according to lottery rankings and projected openings. Offers will continue until all anticipated seats are filled. Subsequently, families who have not received an offer will be notified of their waitlist ranking via email by May 16. The next round of offers will commence in the third week of the 2025-2026 school year, which is when any additional seat availability will be determined.
State Preschool
Applications for State Preschool for the 2025-26 school year are now available online for children who will turn 3 by December 1st. Families whose children turn 3 after December 1st can apply on or after their 3rd birthday. Please visit preschool.eusd.org for more information and to access the application.
Breakfast and Lunch Menus:
All EUSD students have access to no-cost breakfast and lunch. Families can view our new online menus. Select your school and menu to see what is being served every day.
To all of our moms, I wish you a joyful and restful Mother's Day!
And Remember, Every Day Counts in EUSD!
